The Senior Category Manager, Small Format contributes to PepsiCo Beverages Canada's success by leading the gathering and communication of category best practices and consumer insights against objectives, strategies and opportunities. This person will lead a team to develop and execute against fact-based recommendations that support achievement of PBC sales and profit objectives primarily with Small Format customers. The Senior Category Manager is responsible for supporting the development of marketing and strategy initiatives through their category knowledge. They must be able to apply their comprehensive knowledge of customers, consumer insights toward the development of strategic category plans that will maximize sales and profit.


Key Responsibilities include:




  • Lead the development an annual Customer Action Plan (CAP) that aligns with the Retail Sales Team Small Format plans, highlights and quantifies category opportunities and outlines the key initiatives planned to proactively address the most urgent and sizeable opportunities

  • Connect business trends with PepsiCo Beverages long term strategy needs across sales and marketing

  • Coach and lead a team of Category Managers to leverage insights to deliver effective account presentations

  • Lead the category review process to ensure distribution, shelving and pricing objectives are achieved

  • Actively develop and communicate category and consumer insights knowledge and best practices to the broader team

  • Provide overall category recommendations and create solutions that satisfy both PBC and account strategies and objectives

  • Lead the execution of fact based plans with key customer contacts

  • Lead the development of clear, concise and actionable account presentations and recommendations with their team

  • Track customer performance against CAP and make adjustments as necessary

  • Track and provide total category performance commentary to the broader organization

  • Establish strong working relationship with key customer contacts to ensure influence

  • Monitor progress towards achievement of business objectives and effectives of tactics, recommend improvements




Required Experience, Skills and Abilities:



  • Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Business

  • 5 to 7 years of sales experience required

  • 2 years category management or consumer insight required

  • Education in Category Management and Consumer Insights/Marketing is an asset

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills required

  • Demonstrated analytical and math skills required

  • Strong communication and presentation skills required

  • Consumer Products experience in a direct store delivery environment is an asset

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency: Microsoft Suite

  • Possess a valid driver's license and own vehicle

  • Some business travel required
