Nutrition Science & Regulatory Affairs Manager (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada)

OVERVIEW

Located in Mississauga, Ontario this full-time role with PepsiCo Canada is responsible for providing regulatory and nutrition science leadership to support brand and innovation agendas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Interpretation, application and communication of Canadian food regulations, guidelines and policies to support business and compliance needs including product development, packaging, advertising and communication materials.

2. Review and approve regulatory/nutrition components of packaging artwork, label copy, advertising, promotional, and educational materials, press releases, and consumer research concepts for scientific substantiation and compliance.

3. Provide scientific/regulatory guidance on food safety and regulatory compliance matters to support communications with government, media, and consumers.

4. Integrate nutrition science and regulatory guidance and insights into total business strategy to help drive product innovation agenda, accelerate growth and protect base business.

5. Support regulatory submissions for new products, ingredients and claims to support innovation pipeline.

6. Support nutrition communications outreach initiatives, which include the development and distribution of health professional and consumer resources, and conference sponsorship.

7. Support government relations/advocacy agenda and representation on industry trade association and other external stakeholder committees.

8. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Innovation, R&D Product Development, QA, legal, communications, packaging, and consumer relations, as well as international colleagues.






















QUALIFICATIONS

· 3+ years experience in a consumer/food products company.

· Minimum Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Food Science or related discipline (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).

· Registered Dietitian designation is an asset.

· In-depth technical and working knowledge of Canada's Food & Drug Regulations, Guide to Food Labelling and Advertising, Processed Products Regulations, Consumer Packaging & Labelling Act, and related regulations and guidelines is critical.

· Proven track record of regulatory and nutrition problem solving and "can-do" attitude.

· Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

· High standard of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks, and work independently.

· Excellent judgment re escalation to senior management

· Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working in cross-functional teams.

· Results orientation and initiative.

· Ability to master scientific and regulatory complexity, business impacts and educate business partners.
